KATAKLYSM To Film Video For Cover Version Of SACRED REICH's 'The American Way'
March 4, 2014Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based based death metallers KATAKLYSM have recruited Tommy Jones (TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL, EX DEO) to direct the video for the band's rendition of the SACRED REICH classic "The American Way" early next month in the New Jersey area. Jones previously also worked on KATAKLYSM's "Iron Will" DVD.
"It's just like a bull in a china shop stomping its way through," stated SACRED REICH frontman Phil Rind about KATAKLYSM's take on the track.
"KATAKLYSM has never covered any band before on disc in its 20-year existence,” comments KATAKLYSM singer Maurizio Iacono. "We decided to change that on the new record and wanted to do something people didn't expect, but also something that stood through time.
"The message behind the song is still relevant now. The difference today is that it’s a global problem, not only in North America, but everywhere.
"I personally grew up on early thrash metal and SACRED REICH was and is one of my all-time favorite bands. It was very important that we had the blessings from the band to do this video. The guys In SACRED REICH gave us the green light and are happy that were doing this. We chose to reconstruct the same type of video they did for it back in the day but in modern-day setting. It's going to rock!"
KATAKLYSM's version of "The American Way" is taken from the band's new album, "Waiting For The End To Come", which was released on October 29, 2013 in North America via Nuclear Blast. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) was featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of the effort. The cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON) was featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.
The follow-up to 2010's "Heaven's Venom", "Waiting For The End To Come" was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais, who has previously worked with MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX and DESPISED ICON, among others, and mixed by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).
As previously reported, KATAKLYSM has recruited ex-NEURAXIS drummer Oli Beaudoin to sit behind the kit during the recording sessions for "Waiting For The End To Come". Beaudoin is also playing all of KATAKLYSM's currenty announced shows.
Drummer Max Duhamel announced on April 8, 2013 that he was taking a break from KATAKLYSM to deal with issues related to alcohol abuse.
